MITERS is open to everyone in the MIT community – that’s current and former students, staff, and faculty. There’s no membership process or fees; to join, just show up with a project in mind and we will help you get started. Not an MIT affiliate? You are welcome to stop by and visit, but if you are looking for work space check out one of the Cambridge/Somerville area’s many other hackerspaces.
To get updates about the shop and the occasional interesting anecdote, subscribe to our mailing list. For a current list of equipment we offer, and any equipment advisories, go to the equipment page or the status page.
Keyholders have keycode access to the shop; they are responsible for maintaining the space and supervising other members. There is no formal keyholder application process; members who show up frequently, are familiar with the tools, and are helpful and responsible are generally granted keyholder status after one to two semesters.
