A MIT Community Makerspace
Membership
MITERS is open to everyone in the MIT community – that’s current and former students, staff, and faculty. There’s no membership process or fees; to join, just show up with a project in mind and we will help you get started. Already experienced? Come join our community and share that experience or build projects with others! Not an MIT affiliate? You are welcome to stop by and visit, but if you are looking for work space check out one of the many Boston area’s many other hacker/maker spaces.

- To get updates about the shop and the occasional interesting anecdote, subscribe to our mailing list (Guide to MIT Mailing Lists).
- To engage with the community, ask a keyholder for an invitation to the Discord. The Discord is also limited to the MIT community.
- For a current list of equipment we offer, and any equipment advisories, go to the equipment page or the equipment status page.
Keyholders
Keyholders are MITERS members who help operate the club; they are responsible for maintaining the space, supervising the space, and providing oversight and help to other members. There is no formal keyholder application process; members who show up frequently, are familiar with the tools, and are helpful and responsible are generally granted keyholder status after one to two semesters.
Current Club Officers
As an MIT affiliated student-run club, we maintain a list of club officers that take on leadership roles and responsibilites in addition to keyholding. These positions are elected once a year.
